Singin' in the Rain
(Arthur Freed/Nacio Herb Brown)

(My God...you fly thousands of miles to get some sun, and it's rainin' cats and dogs! Typical tropical -- I go on vacation, and Mother Nature gives up on me. Yeah, what a lady. Thanks for at least sendin' it down pre-heated! Doesn't seem to bother the natives, though. Back home it gets no one laughin', and here they even sing to it. Must be some voodoo rain chant or somethin'. Humph! And it sure sounds familiar...oh well...)

I'm singin' in the rain, just singin' in the rain
What a glorious feeling, I'm happy again
I'm laughin' at clouds so dark up above
The sun's in my heart and I'm ready for love
Let the stormy clouds chase, everyone from the place
Come on with the rain, got a smile on my face
I walk down the lane with a happy refrain

I'm singin', just singin' in the rain

(Let it rain all day)

[Repeat 1st verse]

I'm singin' and dancin' in the rain

(Let it rain all day)

[Repeat 1st verse]

I am singin' and dancin' just getting wet in the rain

(Let it rain all day)
(Buckets of sunshine that bring me your love)
(Buckets of sunshine that bring me your love)
(Let it rain all day)
(I love the rainy day)
(We got sunshine, everyday...)

Tribute to Tino
(Werner Lang/Taco Ockerse/Ray Moxley)

He ruled the golden silent screen
He haunted millions in their dreams
His mem'ry lives on 'til today
Some even say that he was lonely
So listen to my story, here's some heavy news
(Get a hold of this one)

Some men think that they are hot , but they ain't got the charm of Valentino
When that man gave you the eye, the masses would just melt and sigh for Tino
Each new part he played made him a superstar
My favorite pantomime, he never spoke a line
People pass away but legends stay
Valentino, R.I.P.

My favorite sheik of araby
You put us all in ecstasy
Take any dream or fantasy
You made them true not just for me
So if I'm not being too cheeky, listen now
(And hear this one)

Fairbanks, Chaplin, Barry Moore had leading ladies by the score like Tino
Sure, they all could latin love, but there was only one like Valentino
There were rumors 'bout his personality
Well let me tell you dear, don't believe all you hear
As Grandpa died he whispered in my ear
Tino was his favorite star

So if I'm not being too cheeky, listen now
(And get a hold of this one)

[Repeat 1st verse]

[Repeat 2nd verse]

Puttin' on the Ritz
(Irving Berlin)

If you're blue and you don't know where to go to why don't you go where fashion sits
Puttin' on the Ritz
Different types who wear a day coat pants with stripes and cutaway coat perfect fits
Puttin' on the Ritz
Dressed up like a million-dollar trooper
Tryin' hard to look like Gary Cooper (super duper)
Come let's mix where Rockefellers walk with sticks or um-ber-ellas in their mitts
Puttin' on the Ritz

Have you seen the well-to-do
Up and down Park Avenue
On that famous thoroughfare
With their noses in the air
High hats, and arrow collars
White spats, and lots of dollars
Spending every dime
For a wonderful time

[Repeat 1st verse]

Dressed up like a million-dollar trooper
Tryin' hard to look like Gary Cooper (super duper)
If you're blue and you don't know where to go to why don't you go where fashion sits
Puttin' on the Ritz
Puttin' on the Ritz
Puttin' on the Ritz
Puttin' on the Ritz

(Down-town, up-town, get your kicks at the Ritz)
(Dine 'n' wine, but not 'til nine, the time is right for us to tonight)
(We can move, move to the rhythm, you can)

(Move...dance to the rhythm, nice and easy)

(I wantcha to move)

(Puttin' it on, puttin' it on, puttin' it on, puttin' it on the R - I -T - Z, how 'bout you and me, says)

(Gotta dance...) (Gotta dance)

(If you're blue and you don't know where to go to why don't you go where fashion sits)
(Puttin' on the Ritz...)

I Should Care
(Paul Weston/S. Cahn/Axel Stordahl)

[some French stuff]

I should care, I should go around weeping
I should care, I should go without sleeping
Strangely enough, I sleep well
Except for a dream or two
But then I count my sheep well
Funny how sheep can lull you to sleep, so

I should care, I should let it upset me
I should care, but it just doesn't get me
Maybe I won't find someone as lovely as you
But I should care, and I do

[Repeat 2nd verse]

Carmella
(John David Parker-Tanja/Werner Lang/Taco Ockerse)

I found her in a dirty little cafe in an obscure part of Reno, sleeping in a corner
Her features suggested further beauty, but the picture she presented just made me shiver
I thought of the endless nights just searching with a handful of indications, most of them were useless
Now that the journey was over I wondered, was it worth it, what had happened to the girl

Carmella, people call you the mystery star
You live on as a legend, but I searched for the truth
Carmella, you have haunted me ever since when I once featured beside you with a one-sentence line

I ordered two double whiskey sodas as I needed all the courage to go and wake her
Then suddenly, two eyes burned right through me - I wanted to be certain who sat before me
She told me that there were many reasons about her disappearance, the torment she'd been through
Surgeons had ruined her sister's face, then they made her take her place, but Conchita couldn't act

[Repeat chorus]

[Repeat chorus]

La Vie En Rose
(Edith Piaf/Ralf-Maria Siegel/H. Doll/Louiguy)

[some French stuff]

Cheek to Cheek
(Irving Berlin)

(Chichi con c-con con chichi chichi con c-con)
(Chichi con c-con con chichi chichi con c-con)

Heaven, I'm in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek

Heaven (cheek to cheek), I'm in heaven (cheek to cheek)
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek (cheek to cheek)

Oh, I love to climb the mountain, and to reach the highest peak
But it doesn't thrill me half as much as dancing cheek to cheek
Oh, I love to go a-fishin', in a river or a creek
But I don't enjoy it half as much as dancing cheek to cheek

Dance with me, I want my arms about you
The charm about you will carry me through to
Heaven (cheek to cheek), I'm in heaven (cheek to cheek)
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek (cheek to cheek)

[Repeat previous verse]

I don't wanna climb no mountain, I don't wanna swim no creek
All I ever wanna do with you honey is dance cheek to cheek

Dance with me, I want you to dance

(Cheek to cheek)

(Chichi con c-con con chichi chichi con c-con)
(Chichi con c-con con chichi chichi con c-con)
(Chichi con c-con con chichi chichi con c-con)
(Chichi con c-con con chichi chichi con c-con)
(Now ain't it sheik to dance cheek to cheek)
(Says that a freak won't dance cheek to cheek)
(You pull real close to the one that you love)
(Slide and glide, side to side, through the night)

(Now Freddy took his changer, and Judy took her jeep)???
(Now they will show the world how to dance some steam)
(So, come on now and try it, a good time's guaranteed)
(Just slide away to the tune today 'cause, man, that's what we need!)

Aftyer Eight
(John David Parker-Tanja/Werner Lang/Taco Ockerse)

After eight, a rendezvous with Kate
She works late, I've had a hard day watching color TV
After nine, I plan a tease, then dine
Tonight I'll tell her the words she longs to hear
Tonight I'll make it clear

Kate works each day nine-to-five, serving with true dedication
She serves you sodas, and ice creams, and pizzas, and chilis, and burgers - all kinds! - and tacos to (dig)

Kate works each day nine-to-five, serving with true dedication
She serves you sodas, and ice creams, and pizzas, and chilis, and burgers - all kinds! - and tacos too (yeah)

After ten, after dessert, my plan
Is to dance the latest steps they do at the local palais
After twelve, the atmosphere's just swell
Kate pulls a credit card and I grab her coat
Tomorrow's another busy day

Kate works each day nine-to-five, serving with true dedication
She serves you sodas, and ice creams, and pizzas, and chilis, and burgers, and tacos, and French fries (divine)
(Eat and feel fine)
(My favorite hangout serves extra grow time) ???
(So c'mon Kate, don't stay 'til eight)
('Cause you're my date)
(Now tell me whattaya got to eat for me, oh Kate)
(Don't make me wait)
(Not after nine, I says)
(You are my appetite, oh K - A - T - E)
(You do to me, why girl)
(You stuff me and I can't take no more)
(Man, five cheeseburgers are too much)
(What more, I can't dance)
(Katie baby, why don't we make love instead of food)
(I'm ten pounds overweight already and I'm growin' a new roll each day)
(Kate)

Livin' in my Dreamworld
(John David Parker-Tanja/Werner Lang/Taco Ockerse)

Livin' in my dreamworld, mem'ries of yesteryear
Visions of Garbo, that old piano
Those golden years are right here (I love 'em)
Livin' in my dreamworld, don't you dare wake me up
I'm hooked on Charleston, I sing a long song
Don't let 'em disappear

Come fly with me, there's room within my fantasy
In dreams, there'll be a shooting star for you and me
I'm not nuts now honey, so take a chance
We'll dance on the Milky Way (you'll love it)

Livin' in a dreamworld, moonlight serenade
Two lovers spending time, never-ending
Honeymoon escapade (you gather)
Livin' in my dreamworld, twilight twa nu mua
Conquer the dance floor, 'til we can't take more
Na per des ear un wah

Come fly with me, there's room within my fantasy
In dreams, there'll be a shooting star for you and me
I'm not nuts so honey, come take your chance
Romancing, dancing here (it's magic)

Livin' in a dreamworld, programmed on way back then
You'll be my Harlow, I'm Valentino
Tear up the town like them (they'll love us)
Livin' in my dreamworld, destined for the past
Don't like the eighties, livin' on maybe's
Big brother's watching you (don't trust him)
(Living in my dreamworld, where did things go wrong)
(Computerizing and analyzing)
(Destroying my favorite song)

Encore (Sweet Gipsy Rose)
(John David Parker-Tanja/Werner Lang/Taco Ockerse)

Every evening, eight o'clock, the curtain's up, the band begins to play
The mayor's there, his lovely wife's been squeezed into the fashions of the day
You make your entrance on time
Decadent, thrilling, divine
You're hypnotic, so exotic, the audience just sighs and melts away

Encore, show us more
Sweet Gipsy Rose-a
Encore, they shout more
Se magnifica
Such a pretty face, than of you bolding into space
So give them more, encore
Tre magnifica

Twelve o'clock, the stage is bare, the curtain's down, the show comes to an end
Waiting in the wings, I see the silhouette of him, your current friend
Without me, your show wouldn't be
Professional right down to a "T"
Yes, I'm the one who pulls the curtain down, yes, I'm the one you'll never see

Encore, show them more
Sweet Gipsy Rose-a
Encore, they shout more
Se magnifica
Such a pretty face, will send me flying into space
So give them more, encore
Tre magnifica

Without me, your show wouldn't be
Professional right down to a "T"
Yes, I'm the one who pulls the curtain down, yes, I'm the one you'll never see

Encore, show them more
Sweet Gipsy Rose-a
Encore, they shout more
Se magnifica
Such a pretty face, has got me flying up in space
So give us more, encore
Tre magnifica

Thanks A Million
(Gus Kahn/Arthur Johnson)

(Play it again, Wern)

Thanks a million, a million thanks to you
For everything that love could bring, you brought me
Each tender love word you happened to say
Is hidden away
In mem'ries, okay

Thanks a million, for I remember too
The tenderness that your caress has taught me
You made a million dreams come true
And so I'm saying
Thanks a million
(Thanks a million to you, Wern)
(To Fran for the sound, Elaine for the bass, Lena Frashit here) ???
(And David Parker for making this record possible)
(Thanks a million)
